Medical – Behavioral Integration

Depression is a treatable illness, it does not go away on its own! Depression can disrupt our lives as well as our loved ones, but for the Latino community depression is still surrounded with mystery, fear and confusion. Symptoms of depression are often identified as nerve and fright attacks, nostalgic or melancholic disposition, tiredness, or even as a physical illness temporary in nature. If affected by depression, Latinos tend to think that the symptoms of depression can be treated at home and will dissipate and disappear on its own. In general, they don’t recognize that these symptoms need a medical evaluation.

Many chronic medical conditions carry an undiagnosed behavioral condition -85% are undiagnosed, resulting in dramatic increases in medical, disability, and workplace costs. Undiagnosed depression accompanies many chronic medical conditions. Literature suggests that 50% to 80% of the health care budget is consumed by five behavioral issues: smoking, drinking, eating, stress, and not enough exercise. Many different life factors often serve as obstacles to changing behavior.

We develop processes and models to proactively identify undiagnosed behavioral conditions and engage our members to address the root cause with behavioral, motivational and readiness to change expertise while providing simplified access to psychosocial and life issues assistance.

Through full benefit exploration, we make sure that members are provided with information about all benefits available to them, coordinating the full range of available resources, with seamless integration. Through our expert outreach we are able to identify and reach out to members with co-morbid conditions throughout the healthcare system, enabling us to address the hidden medical cost that depression represents and the barriers to effective interventions and treatment.

Our mission is to provide evidence-based behavioral health and wellness programs that empower the people we serve to lead healthier and more productive lives
